WEDDING DRESS!

I had a 10am appointment with a bridal salon (that wont be named because I want it to be a surprise to everyone, especially my fiancé!). After spending an hour with an incredibly friendly and in-tune male bridal consultant, which was originally off-putting because I was unsure how he would me get dressed, I was presented with the PERFECT dress. I mean, it has everything I ever thought I wanted in a wedding dress. And didn’t break the bank! To top it all off, my fiancé and I also decided on a wedding venue this weekend. Soooo two big-ticket wedding items crossed off the list. I am feeling quite accomplished!

Earrings: Forever 21. Dress: Cotton On. Coat: Primark (old). Watch: Guess. Flats: Urban OG.

Since it was rainy most of the weekend, I had the opportunity to wear this fabulous coat I bought at Primark during my time abroad at Oxford. I love the two layers, the ginormous button, and the timeless print. And, despite the fact that it doesn’t have sleeves, it is incredibly warm. Gotta make the most of it before spring comes!

Let’s hope this week is just as fulfilling as this past weekend was!

The Dress of the Animal Kingdom

Earrings, Belt, Ring: Forever 21. Dress, Bangle: Vintage. Watch: Michael Kors. Shoes: Bakers.

I bought this dress weeks ago during Shareen’s Vintage crazy $3/item sale! I am beginning to really love the shape of these dresses – narrow waist, full skirt, and mid-calf length. When I saw this one, with tigers in the print, I immediately thought of Charlie Sheen’s beloved Tiger Blood (he cracks me up!), and had to have it! What better time to début this dress, then on a wonderful Sunday, filled with church, bridal gown shopping, and the return of my fiancé from Vegas! And you wont believe what he bought me…

Dooney & Burke! You’ve heard me mention before how impressed I am with Dooney & Burke‘s recent purses. Before, it felt like they were marketing to an older and more conservative crowd. But lately the bags are luxuriously simple; my kind of style. I’m so excited to wear it! The color and size are perfect! And it comes with a shoulder strap!

I hope your Sunday has proven to be just as exciting as mine!

A Date With 1948

Earrings: Daisy. Dress: Vintage. Watch: Michael Kors. Bangles, Clutch: Forever 21. Ring: Bakers. Pumps: Steve Madden.

I’m not usually a fan of pink (strange right, since I’m so girly?!), but the moment I saw this dress, I knew I had to have it. The shape, material, and color of the dress immediately reminded me of the dress Judy Garland’s character wore at the end of the 1948 film Easter Parade. Since the dress already made such a statement, I didn’t want to overwhelm it with accessories. So I just added a bit of glimmer on my ears, finger, and feet.

Last night, when I had the fabulous opportunity to where my treasured dress, I had the honor of attending the 80th birthday celebration of my beloved Apostle Frederick KC Price of Crenshaw Christian Center. It was such a dreamy affair filled with beautiful ball gowns, fancy food, operatic performances, heart warming sentiments, and an amazing man. I left last night feeling an overwhelming combination of inspiration and awe because of the proximity I have had the privilege of having, for my entire life, to such a godly, intelligent, and genuine man. I don’t mean to get too serious on you all, but I feel so unbelievably blessed that I cant help but shout it from the rooftops (or my blogs posts! haha).

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Dont forget to take a moment to appreciate the wonderful things in your life!

A Little Peplum

Fiance: baby, look at your jeans.
Me: I know, they’re a little faded, huh?
F: Uh, just a little.
M:  I don’t know how they got like that.
F: Well, you can rub them down with lotion and they’ll be their old color again.
M: Really?! That’s a great idea!
F: I completely made that up. I’m not sure that’ll actually work. But I’m a little concerned you’re so willing to try it.

Women, we’ll do anything for fashion!

Earrings: Forever 21. Blouse, Necklace: H&M. Watch: Michael Kors. Jeans: Urban Outfitters. Pumps: Bakers.

Anyway today, I had an appointment with my church’s wedding coordinator. I was a bit nervous about it because I am a perfectionist and a very particular person (my sister and mother will gladly give you a dozen other adjectives to replace “particular”!). I don’t want one more person involved in my wedding planning that is going to tell me how something should be done, especially if that something isn’t what I would prefer. But she was really helpful in providing me with a prioritized to-do list. And it seems I’m a little behind, so I will be quite busy these next few weeks!

In preparing to get dressed, I wanted a clean and tailored look, but still soft and feminine. I decided to wear this lovely peplum blouse and my favorite (faded) jeans. And from what I’ve read in Vogue, peplum will be all the rage this year. I love that because peplum is so old school glamour and flattering. Love it!

Additionally, my fiancée and his best man have created a wedding website (www.mywedding.com/andreandlauren) for us. You can go there for more detailed updates on wedding planning. Check it out when you get a chance!

Happy Hump Day!
