A Frequented Blouse

Earrings: Etsy. Blouse: Primark. Belt: Forever 21. Skirt: Victoria’s Secret. Pumps: Bakers.

I could seriously wear this blouse every single day. I don’t know why, when I bought it years ago in England, I didn’t buy it in every color (I think it came in black too). It is light and flowy, can be dressed up or done, and isn’t a nude but blends well with almost all other colors. But clearly, my favorite way of wearing it is belting it over a skirt (see here and here). And this little Forever 21 belt is the perfect one due to it’s small size, gold buckle, and bows surrounding the end of the belt.

I hope you had a great Tuesday!

TGIF

Earrings, Scarf: Forever 21. Shirt: H&M. Skirt: Shareen’s Vintage. Watch: Michael Kors. Sandals: Reflections.

I love this skirt because its bold and comfortable. Two features, I generally want every piece of my clothing to have. But the challenge with this skirt is pairing it with blouses and accessories that don’t make it seem like I’ve just walked out of a western! Like, if I had put a brown belt at the waist and taken the scarf off, I’d be a total cowgirl! It’s a delicate balance,  I tell you.

Happy Friday! Yay for a long weekend!

Vogue Reading: May 2012

It’s that time again! I read this a few days ago, but just now had time to post. Enjoy!

Coco Chanel-esque

Since my sister has returned home from school on the east coast, I now have a whole new closet to raid. Usually she steals (ok borrows) my clothes, but she has some nifty new blazers and tops in her collection that are dying to be tried on! She’s had this one for a while, but for some reason, it held new appeal this morning! As I looked at it, I was enchanted by its Coco Chanel-esque nature – the tweed like pattern and fabric, the classic buttons, the rounded hem, and the 3/4 length sleeves. As it is so spectacular, I let it do all the talking and paired it with a simple white top and black skirt. And because I work with elementary kids, flats were the shoe option of choice.

Earrings: Asos. Top: Forever 21. Blazer: Thrifted. Skirt: American Apparel. Flats: Urban OG.

Speaking of Chanel, check out the ending scene from the amazingly romanticized (kinda sorta) biography of Coco Chanel, “Coco Before Chanel”. The scene occurs at the end of the movie and shows Coco Chanel’s first collection of sleek and sophisticated suits and dresses for the ‘modern’ woman. Every time I watch it, I feel so inspired to sew!

If you haven’t seen the movie, check it out. It is superb!

Happy Monday!
